FAQ
Questions the studio is asked.
Lorem ipsum — honest answers, no asterisks. Anything not here, WhatsApp the studio.
Commissions
From conversation to easel
How does a commission begin?
Lorem ipsum — a WhatsApp or an inquiry form. Sandhya replies herself, usually within the day. The first conversation is free; no obligation. Once you decide on a composition and size, the studio sends a hand-drawn sketch within two weeks. The painting begins after you approve.
How long does a commission take?
Lorem ipsum — six weeks at the easel for standard sizes, eight to ten weeks for XL (over 48 in). The sketch step adds two weeks before the brush. A Tuesday update is sent every week by WhatsApp.
Can I commission a painting from a photograph?
Lorem ipsum — yes, gladly. Share the photograph with Sandhya. The painting will not be a copy of the photograph; it will be an interpretation in Sandhya’s hand. We discuss what the painting is for, and we work to that intent.
Can a composition be painted at a specific size?
Lorem ipsum — every composition is painted to your size. Standard sizes range from 24 × 30 in to 48 × 60 in. For larger, send wall dimensions and we will quote and confirm feasibility.
Can I cancel after the sketch is approved?
Lorem ipsum — the sketch step exists for both sides to feel certain. Once you approve and the brush touches linen, the work is one-of-one and cannot be cancelled. The deposit is non-refundable from that point.
Materials & framing
What the painting is made of
What materials does Sandhya use?
Lorem ipsum — oil paint on Belgian linen, hand-primed in lead-free oil ground. The linen is stretched on kiln-dried pine in the Faridabad studio. Pigments are mineral and earth where possible; vermilion is ground in Sangli, indigo from Tamil Nadu.
What are the framing options?
Lorem ipsum — three. Stretched (gallery wrap on pine, included in the price); floater frame in black or white (+15%); floater frame in hand-finished gold leaf (+20%). All frames are decided after the painting is finished, when you can see the colour balance.
Can I have a painting unstretched, on the roll?
Lorem ipsum — for international dispatch we recommend rolled tube; you can have it stretched locally. For India, we stretch and dispatch as a gallery wrap by default. Rolled tube on request, with no price difference.
How should I care for the painting?
Lorem ipsum — keep out of direct sunlight and away from kitchen humidity. Dust with a soft dry brush every few months. Do not use cleaning sprays of any kind. Oil paintings settle over years; small surface changes are part of the medium.
Dispatch & care
From the studio to your wall
How is the painting dispatched within India?
Lorem ipsum — white-glove courier, fully insured, signature on delivery. Free across India. Tier-1 cities receive within four working days from dispatch; smaller towns may take seven.
Do you ship internationally?
Lorem ipsum — yes, by rolled tube. International dispatch is at cost; we quote per painting after sizing. Customs and duties are the buyer’s responsibility. The Certificate of Authenticity travels with the painting.
When does the painting arrive?
Lorem ipsum — after the painting is signed, there is a 7-day curing period before dispatch. The signature is genuinely the last brushstroke.

How is payment taken?
Lorem ipsum — 50% deposit on sketch approval; 50% on dispatch. Razorpay handles UPI, cards, netbanking. Bank transfer also welcome. For international, we accept wire transfer.

Lorem ipsum — yes, all prices include 5% GST under HSN 9701 (original paintings, effective Sept 2025). GST invoice provided with every painting.

Sandhya & the Faridabad atelier
Does Sandhya paint every painting herself?
Lorem ipsum — yes. There is no assistant. Sandhya stretches her own canvases, primes them, paints them, and signs them. This is why the queue is six weeks; this is also why every painting is unrepeatable.
Can I visit the studio?
Lorem ipsum — by appointment, weekday mornings, Sector 21, Faridabad. WhatsApp first; we confirm a day. The easel is in use, so we ask that visits be brief.
Why “an artist from Govardhan” rather than Faridabad?
Lorem ipsum — Govardhan is the lineage and the eye; Faridabad is the address. The credit goes to where the colour vocabulary came from. Both are true.
Still wondering
Something we haven’t answered?
Lorem ipsum — the studio replies to anything, usually within the day. WhatsApp is the closing channel.
